How To Choose A Photographer

Have you ever wanted there to be someone there to capture all the little moments of your big days or monumental times in life and you couldn't choose which person that should be?
Well, first of all that person should be a photographer and second of all that person should be me. Okay, I'm only teasing but in all honesty, sometimes it is hard to choose a photographer so here is a guide to finding the perfect photographer for you and your moments!
The Search
Google is huge time-saver when looking for photographers in your area as you can see portfolios and prices. But, do you want to know of a way to save even more time?? Use your friends on your social networks. Most have used a photographer and can give you suggestions and ideas for places to take photos which will save you the headache of searching through hundreds of photographers' webpages. With this search, you should have an idea of what you want your pictures to look like so that you can find a similar style with the photographer you choose. Now when I am looking for someone to take my pictures, I bookmark all the photographers who are a potential yes and contact them asking about prices making sure I include everything that I am looking for. Some things that I include are if I want family pictures that include individual shots of each family member, mom and dad shot and a few different poses of the family. Yes, us photographers need someone to take our pictures; we can't be in two places at once.
List
As I state earlier, you need to make a list of things you want from the session and what you want from that photographer and seriously search for one that meets your needs. These are your memories being recorded, they need to be how you envision them. Even if your list is a Pinterest board of pictures you want to mimic, this is a great start! I love it when I have clients ask me to mimic and play around with the ideas they give me because it gives me great practice.
Enlist
The last thing you have to do in this search of choosing a photographer is contacting them and making an appointment. When doing this seriously take the advice of the photographer times and weather; they know their strengths and want you to have the best pictures they can produce. And after you choose a photographer and set a date, it's up to you the client to help the photographer with the ideas you envision in your session. Remember that there is no such thing as a mind reader so we need your help in giving you what you want.
Now for my young photographers who are seraching for clients, set up a website with your best work that includes prices and get experience. This is the only way for you to get better and for you to be known. The more people know about you, the more clients you will have.
I hope that you all found this helpful and that when it comes to your special moments you find someone you can trust and that the lighting is always in your favor.
